This post on ways to live a healthy lifestyle will detail how diet, exercise and relationships can effect your overall health.
Living a healthy lifestyle equates to more than just exercise and diet.
When it comes to food and exercise it’s important to understand your body is your temple and treating it as such.
However, external factors such as relationships can have a positive or negative impact on your health as well.
Of course exercising is something most people dread doing, but what if that’s how you feel regarding being around someone.
Strenuous exercise such as weight lifting and running may break down your body over time, and toxic relationships can cause a deterioration in your mental health.
To build yourself up, you might have to take a different approach in the things that might be breaking you down.
Instead of going through exercises fast by focusing on how many reps you do, focus on time under tension.
Instead of staying in a toxic relationship, ask yourself if you will ever commit to that person and if you see yourself being happy if you do.
I will start off mainly with how to improve health through exercising and things we should not consume in our diet.
If you are an aspiring bodybuilder or marathon runner then this article may not be for you.
If you want to know the best way to stay healthy and maintain peak endurance and strength without weights or the treadmill, then keep reading.
Exercising By Combining Yoga with Calisthenics
Exercises like this can be performed simultaneously. When doing Yoga and focusing on breathing, you essentially build your endurance better than you would be running. By focusing on your breathing and implementing some yoga poses while you perform push-ups or planks, you will be building strength and endurance at the same time.
When doing this exercise, aim for holding yourself up for 2-3 minutes straight if you are a beginner,3- 6 minutes straight if you are intermediate, and 10 minutes or more if you are more fit.
Of course, you don’t hold yourself up in one position during the period of time. This is about focusing on your inner strength and listening to your body by adjusting into positions that feel good for you.
To give a better understanding of how it’s done, I will provide picture images of different poses to perform.
Start with a Plank
A plank is a simple way of holding yourself up in a position before doing a push-up. Depending on how your body feels, you can start doing push-ups immediately, but the point is to hold yourself up for a period of time. Do not exhaust yourself as the point of the exercise is to combine yoga poses with push-ups and planks. When I’m going through the motions or targeting my core, I sometimes get through this exercise and do 2 strong push-ups within 10 minutes of holding myself up.
While holding yourself in this position, focus on breathing through your nose. As a matter of fact, for this whole exercise, you want to just breathe through your nose. Holding yourself in a plank position builds strength in the arms and tones the stomach as it burns more calories when done every day compared to other core exercises like situps.
Planks are actually an important pose in many yoga routines. I will not say how long you should do this as this is about listening to what your body tells you and adjusting to different positions to make getting through it easier.
Adjustment Yoga Pose 1 and 2
There is no specific order in which you need to adjust. Do what your body tells you is best for you.
Pose 1-Downward Dog
Focus on breathing through your nose and hold yourself in this position until you are ready to adjust to another. You will immediately feel goodness rushing to your brains. A list of benefits from this pose includes the following.
- Calms the brain and helps relieve stress and mild depression.
- Energizes the body.
- Stretches the shoulders, hamstrings, calves, arches, and hands.
- Strengthens the arms and legs.
- Helps relieve symptoms of menopause.
- Relieves menstrual discomfort when done with head supported
- Helps prevent osteoporosis.
Pose 2-Upward Dog
Continue to Focus on Your Breathing. At this point, you may feel a good feeling in your heart that is hard to explain. Nonetheless, getting through the exercise and advancing will eventually give you that feeling in your heart that is hard to explain. Remember though, when exercising you should always want to build your heart as it should be the strongest muscle in your body.
Benefits of this pose includes the following:
- Improves posture.
- Strengthens the spine, arms, wrists.
- Stretches chest and lungs, shoulders, and abdomen.
- Firms the buttocks.
- Stimulates abdominal organs.
- Helps relieve mild depression, fatigue, and sciatica.
- Therapeutic for asthma.
Push Ups
If you can muster the energy, try to get in as many pushups as possible before adjusting in a yoga position of choice. Hold yourself up and adjust yoga poses until you get to the amount of time you set forth for completing the exercise. In doing three sets, I might start out at 10 minutes or more and then go down to 8 and 7. If you don’t have much time, focus on getting one set done throughout the day.
For Push Ups, I incorporate a variety of different ways in doing push ups after warming up with the yoga poses.
Hold yourself in position as long as it feels good while breathing through your nose and move your feet up and down before pulling back up. Adjust to a yoga pose or plank when you tire from doing this.
Underhand Push Ups
Underhand push up will target the upper chest when done correctly. If your shoulders are rolled forward, you will be targeting anterior deltoids more so than the chest. Adjust to a yoga pose or plank when you tire from doing this.
Knuckle Push ups
Perfected by boxers and martial artists, fist or knuckle pushups is a great way to strengthen your wrists along with reaping the benefits of a classic pushup. In this routine, By supporting the upper body on the knuckles rather than the palms, you will add strength to the knuckle and improve punching efficiency. Focus on breathing through your nose before pushing back up. Adjust to a yoga pose or plank when you tire from doing this.
Triangle Push Ups
The ultimate push up is the triangle push up as it targets your full chest. Your triceps will be strong and your front deltoids will be strong. While doing this exercise, you can hold yourself up in plank position instead of doing a full push up if you are not ready for this.
Push Ups with one Leg Up
You must have proper stability from your feet all the way up to your head in order to complete this challenging variation of the push-up. Begin in the plank position and try getting one done in the span of time for completing this exercise if possible.
These variations of pushups don’t need to be included all in one set. You should adjust and do what feels best. For working on strength to do push-ups with one hand, hold yourself in a plank position with one hand for as long as you can before adjusting to a yoga pose, normal plank or push up.
Diet
Instead of going through a list of foods that are healthy, I will simply point out two of the most unhealthy foods I consumed in my life that is part of some people’s everyday diet. I eat relatively healthy and do not consume these two things as much anymore.
1. Soda– It is a simple fact that soda is unhealthy and filled with a bunch of empty calories. One-third of Americans consume at least one sugar-sweetened beverage every day, according to the CDC. Should it be any surprise that one-third of adults are also considered to be obese?
The combination of sugar, chemicals, and carbonation in sodas can wreak havoc on more than just your waistline. Soda increases the risk of becoming Pre-Diabetic and acquiring Type 2 Diabetes.
Your Body Ages Prematurely and your skin may break out. Your Sperm Count Goes Down and it also decreases a female’s chances of getting pregnant. Your Kidneys May Stop Functioning Well or you Might Have a Heart Attack. Heart disease is the leading cause of death in adults in America, accounting for 610,000 lives a year, according to the CDC. When thinking about your health regarding bad habits such as smoking or not exercising, drinking soda should also be included. Having one 12-ounce soda a day raises your risk of a heart attack by 20%, according to a study published in the American Heart Association journal Circulation.
Other negative effects of drinking soda is tooth decay as the sugar consumed by drinking soda is horrible for your pearly whites.
While this may be rare, heavy soda consumption is believed to increase your chances of catching asthma, and although your bones naturally become more brittle as you age, drinking soda can worsen the problem. According to a study published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, certain soft drinks make your bones weaker.
2. Ramen Noodles-Although there are some nutrients that are beneficial such as iron, B vitamins, and manganese, it lacks plenty of key nutrients like fiber, protein, and other vitamins and minerals. While eating this every now and then will not have a negative impact on your health, overconsumption can have adverse effects on one’s metabolism. The chances of Ramen Noodles effecting metabolism is a more concerning issue for women.
Studies suggest that women who eat instant noodles two or more times a week are 68% more likely to develop a higher risk of metabolic syndrome, no matter how healthy they eat or how physically active they are.
Doctors believe that the saturated fats, processed ingredients in the ramen noodles, and the high sodium levels in the packets contribute to high blood pressure, high blood sugar levels, and an increased risk of stroke, diabetes, and heart disease.
How to Detoxify?
While there are plenty of supplements on the market that promises healthy weight loss, you should be cautious when investing in supplements that promises results in a short period of time. Hope your enjoyed the article and if you have any questions or comments feel free to leave one in the section below.
Eating healthy is a very important concern, especially these days when so much of the food that you see in today’s supermarket is filled with preservatives and far too much sodium like Ramen noodles. There was a time not so long ago that basically all I would take to work in my lunch was Ramen noodles.
Exercise has always been a big part of my life, lifting weights, bodyweight exercises and the planks I have spent some time doing also. Health is so important, ifwe don’t have our health, that dosen’t leave us with much. Our best bet is to eat healthy, eat clean and stay active as well, keep an exercise program.
I was a smoker for 15 years and I personally can vouch for the power of yoga. Not only for the body but also the mind. I struggled with the addiction for a few years until I was finally able to kick it with, you guessed it, yoga. It just totally clears and focuses the mind. I fell in love. Im not a yogi by any means and I definitely cant stand on my head or anything but it is an amazing thing and I wish I would have tried it sooner. Thanks. Great read.
Andrew
I started yoga years ago and I wish I had done so sooner in life as well. Dealing with stress in a unhealthy way will cause your health to deteriorate.
Very good suggestion on adding variety to your workout routine. Planks in combination with not only those poses your described but yoga in general is a good exercise medium and when done correctly works many areas of the body typical exercise cannot. I can definitely attest to dreading doing my daily exercises but combining them with a good diet and the right supplements is the best way to live a healthier lifestyle for sure.
You won’t dread exercising if you do it at your own pace.
This is a beautifully written article, very easy to read and understand. Thank you . You have just revived my my love and need for yoga. I will make sure that I resume soon.I will start with the few suggested positions and follow your tip about breathing. I believe that doing them with full understanding and meaning will ease the process for me .
Thank you for the compliment and I am glad this may inspire you to do some yoga. I think these methods are easy to get started for the average person that is not tremendously overweight.
It’s so important for us to do the things you mentioned like eat healthy, exercise and take anti-oxidants especially now when we need our bodies to be as strong as possible. It’s simple but hard at the same time, thinking of giving up sugar or soda but once you do it you feel so much better. Eating healthy proteins and fats can reduce anxiety and so can yoga. Thank you for a well written article on how we can benefit ourselves.
No problem I am glad you enjoyed the article and I wish you the best in terms of health and life in general!
Awesome buddy, and very great mixture here in the workout routine. I noticed a lot of varieties as options to users and I love those poses you described in the article. Yoga in general is a great exercise sport and when done correctly works many areas of the body. I find it hard to keep up to my daily exercises especially the Goat Yoga club I have been doing for some time now. Have you heard of Goat Yoga? You should try it; totally different experience all together. Thank you for expressing your passion with us.
Cheers!
Juma
I am glad you enjoyed the article and I have never heard of the Goat Yoga Club until now so you know I have to look it up!
Thanks for sharing such amazing ideas! It is important for us find our own ways to live a healthy lifestyle since there are lots of foods that selling in the market are containing plenty of chemicals ingredients. Besides, many people not concern about their physical health because they are busy working. Combining yoga with calisthenics is definitely a good idea since it can improve strength of our core as well. I will try to add it in my workout routine.
Thanks again.
No problem, since exercising this way I feel mentally and physically better than I have ever felt in my entire life!
I am always looking for ways to live a healthy lifestyle. I believe losing weight and maintaining a healthy body starts in the kitchen. You must eat right, be sensible about what you eat, and how much of it you are eating. You touch on some important factors about soda and ramen noodles. I had no idea that eating ramen noodles just 2 times a week could have such adverse effects on women. This is scary. However, I experienced patchy skin issues from drinking too much soda. More so, I agree that over-consumption can be extremely harmful and make it exceedingly difficult to lose weight even if you are exercising. You know the saying, you can’t out-train a bad diet.
With exercising it took me a while to grasp just how important it is to breathe properly when doing yoga, stretches and just your overall exercise routine. It is a key technique that, when done properly, can help you power thru each move more effectively. Take stretching for instance – you will find that you can go further into your stretch if you breathe properly. It is absolutely amazing the difference breathing makes during your yoga/exercise routines. I completely agree with you that you will build strength and endurance when you breathe through your push up, planks and all of your exercise routines.
I’ve never heard of NutraVesta before. I like that it is made with 100% natural ingredients and is FDA approved. 2 major plus for me. I may have missed it, but I hope this is good for women. I would certainly like to try it.
I definitely do stretches ad thought about adding that in the article. Not everyday needs to be the same as you would get tired of doing the same exercise. Practicing how to do splits and breathing properly will open up you hip flexors to keep you feeling spry and give an extra bounce to your step.
As a diet and exercise fanatic, I have found this a very useful never mind interesting read. I hve always taken the yoga poses for granted they always appear so easy on pictures and videos. Just tried pose 1 and didn’t last 10 seconds I really felt it working my back. I’ll work at it more 🙂
I’m all for natural products and if NutraVesta Proven provided maximum nutrients then I would definitely like to give it a go. Just a question, is it advisable to take it only for the supplements without wanting to loose any weight and for the same reason is it safe to take it over a long period of time? I will re examine my 10 closest relationships to ensure they are adding health and also make sure I add health to those around me! Thanks for this.
I would advise taking it to live a healthy lifestyle. If you don’t want to lose weight and are relatively healthy then I would not advise investing in it. When Taking it over a long period of time, you should consider any medical conditions you may have and if you are currently taking medications that interfere with some of the ingredients.
Ok thanks for clarifying that.
No problem.
It is great to see an article showing people what to eat and how they can exercise. Using Yoga combined with Callisthenics is an excellent combination. I only have one concern or question and that is recommending doing press-ups on your knuckles. I know a lot of martial art centres and boxing clubs have stopped using them as they can cause damage to your knuckles. Is it safe to recommend this exercise?
I would say it’s safe to do moderately. When I do knuckle push-ups I don’t push the limit and listen to my body when it tells me to adjust to regular pushups or a yoga pose.
I am working on keeping healthy. Based on your discussion, I would say I eat healthy. I need to be more consistent with my exercise though. I did yoga for a while, then strength training at the gym, I started regular walking but then found it boring. As I write this I am thinking that I probably should settle for a combination of these. I don’t mind exercise. But I get bored doing the same and only thing all the time. This article is an eye opener. Thanks.
I am glad this gave you a new perspective on exercising. I also do stretches and splits on days I do not do this exercise. As a matter of fact, sometimes I do such stretching before getting into this routine.
Excellent post about fitness, diet, and supplementation. I do some exercises, but probably not enough. You have given me some good tips on things to avoid and exercises to do. I like that supplement that you have here. Has all the things that I like that I have in the past had to order separately. Staying fit is important to every aspect of our lives. I would recommend this post to others.
I am glad you enjoyed the article and would definitely appreciate some social sharing!
Hi Max, thank you for your amazing article about the ways to live a healthy lifestyle.
Eating healthy is a very important concern.
Exercise has always been a big part of my life, lifting weights. Our best bet is to eat healthy, eat clean and stay active as well, keep an exercise program.
This is a beautifully written article, very easy to read and understand. Thank you
Thank you for the compliment as I try to write in a way that makes it easy for readers to understand. Keep living a healthy life and I wish you the Best!
I think the plank is my favorite move to do. I’m not sure why I like it so much, but it most certainly is. The downward dog is one of the few yoga moves that I can do without hurting myself!
I believe exercise is important and vital to my overall health and I do what I can especially riding bike and walking.
I also try to eat a balanced diet with few sugary foods as I am a type 2 diabetic.
NutraVesta Proven sounds like a good way to supplement my diet. Is it a detox? Usually those are for set periods of time. NutraVesta Proven seems more like an ongoing daily supplement. Or does it detoxify in an ongoing way?
A balanced lifestyle which includes diet, exercise and spiritual is a great way to live!
ProVen has a few ingredients to help eliminate toxins from the body. For one, Tumeric is an ingredient that aids in liver detoxification.ProVen is meant to be taken in an ongoing manner for improving health over time.
Hello Max, lining a healthy lifestyle is very key as we all wish to have it but moist of us are not willing to make the sacrifices to get the desired lifestyles as it will affect some part of our every day life lice feeding habits as well. Exercising is a big part of it and I like as you have placed it as number one. These suggested exercises would do a great job. Nice being here
Sometimes even if you do a 10-minute exercise is better than nothing. That’s why I mentioned getting one set in throughout the day if you are pressed for time.
Hi there!
Thanks for this amazing post!
Personally, I am a huge fan of yoga! Not too long ago I started doing it I started doing it in the mornings and afterwards I started to do chalistenics exercises and I have to say my life has changed a lot! I really agree with all that you said and I might even try the NutraVesta product myself!
Thanks a lot.
No problem. Have you ever incorporated the two exercises simultaneously?
Healthy living is very important as we all have the love to live healthy we also should be willing to go the extra mile to look and be healthy too. Food is one thing that I am always concerned about because it does a lot to the body, same way it can be of help, it can also harm the body. However exercising would do a great job too. Cheera
Different People with different ideas of what an healthy lifestyle is all about, what really matters is the knowledge of how to take care of yourself properly, ensuring you put first your health and wellness, starting from what you eat, wear, drink and so on and also what you process In your mind which is very important
This is quite a topic here and honestly I really have to tell you that I like it. I need to tell you that you did a god job putting a post like this one together. I like the fact that I would be able to detoxify using this product that you have reviewed here. I’m happy to learn a couple of things from your post. Also, I’m going to try those yoga poses for real this time.
LoL, the poses mentioned are some of the easiest yoga poses to get started with. I am glad you enjoyed the article and wish you the best in health and in general.
I like this article. Calisthenics and Yoga are a good combination. They both require total body workout. I think that your overall information about ways to stay strong and live a healthy lifestyle can provide benefits to the body. I’ve learned about some herbs and some body movements which I will incorporate into my daily routine and exercise. This was helpful. Thanks for the article.
No problem I am glad you enjoyed the article!
Hello there! this is an amazing review you have got here. I am sure this quality information will be beneficial to anyone who come across it. Though I’m quite new to the yoga experience (I started it few months ago), I am seeing rapid change in me and gradually helping my health issues,
Doing this is great for those that suffer from anxiety or may have issues with their heart. Since doing exercises in this manner along with the stretches I do to open my hip flexors make me feel better than ever!
Nice and very insightful article. You actually have inspired me to exercise again and do it more consistently. It is also nice that you have provided pictures of the poses or exercises as often times I find most sites miss this important detail as it helps the reader a lot. One other suggestion regarding visual aids, is perhaps if you can include pictures of the muscle groups that gets targeted by these exercises.
One quick & final question, do you do all of the exercises in every exercise session?
Again thank you for this article!
When I focus on the upper body I usually do this and I might do some pull-ups after. For the lower body I incorporate a lot of stretching and splits which builds strength in the legs and opens your hip flexors..
I am so for eating healthy and exercising. I have always believe in feeding my body with good and healthy food. My main rule behind eating healthy is to avoid processed foods. But we all have our own nutritious diets and should stick to what works for us. So remembering that what works for other might not work for us will help us see that we must understand our likes and dislikes first.
I also believe that each of us need to find out our own exercise routine that we feel encouraged to follow otherwise it will be another new routine that we try and forget about it when we get tired of it.
This quarantine has been EXTRA HARD FOR ME! As I have always been heavy, the past year and a half I managed to lose a lot of weight, in which I gained so much back when the gym closed down and my boys stood home (snacks all. The. Time)! Quaratine25 is more like it!
This product would be exactly what I am looking for! I started a less stressful excercise rountine, since my house offers nothing in relation to a gym. So, I could use all the help I can get and being FDA approved makes this an easier decision.
One question though: How does it effect your body when you stop using it?
I would advise using this, start a walking routine, and eat healthy foods. If you stop using it after seen progress, step up the walking routine to some of these exercises while continuing to eat healthily.
